    Membership/Colonization Interest Form

Some basic membership and colonization information. Things you should know before moving forward.

This may seem like a lot of information, but we want you to be as informed as possible before continuing.

    We are a Co-Ed organization.
Omega Delta Sigma is open to all students with the only qualification of veterans status and/or the laws governing 501.c.19's.  We do not discriminate based on national origin, gender, religious affiliation, age, sexual orientation, or disability.  Military persons and their families are made up of a wide variety of people and we respect that in every way.  We believe in a strong diversity of people and ideas to make this brotherhood stronger and be the best and most representative that it can be.

We do not accept individual members, there must be an established chapter of Omega Delta Sigma at your campus to join.  If you wish to create a chapter and start the colonization process please continue.
You must have a minimum of 10 start up members with a solid written plan on how you will be recruiting to grown your colony.

Requirements of all members (these are not flexible):
    • United States military veteran or any branch (including Reserve and National Guard) or rank, or are currently serving with a percentage of membership as allowed by the laws governing 501.c.19's.
    • If you are a discharged veteran you must have proper documentation supporting this.  We do not accept dishonorable discharges. Please not that if falsified or altered discharge paperwork is submitted it will be referred to the proper authorities.
    • You must have a GPA of no less that 2.5 or higher based on your schools requirement on a 4.0 scale.
    • You must be in good standing with your school academically, financially, and disciplinary.
    • You must remain active with your colony/chapter and pay your dues on time.  Financial hardships need to be discussed at the colony/chapter level.

Be aware that we are a due paying organization and all dues are used for the betterment of the organization. We are also an all volunteer run organization, no one gets paid so all the money gets used for the brotherhood.  Currently member dues are $50.00 per semester, and a one time $50 membership fee (to cover your fraternity shirt, membership certificate, pledge and brother pins, and shipping of those items).
We also encourage but do not require colonies/chapters to charge local dues (may not exceed the national dues amount) to cover your operational expenses.
Our National Officers Board convenes monthly and reviews all colonization applications at that time.  Please be patient.
We do not have a traditional fraternity pledge process (you did that by joining the military), but we do have a process period of education and for you to see if our brotherhood is right for you.  Consider the colonization process the pledge period for your start up group.  The pledge process normally spans 8 weeks, but your colonization will be faster than that.
There is a $250 colonization fee once your application is approved.  A Facebook page, Omega Delta Sigma email addresses for your officers (President, VP, Sergeant at Arms, Secretary, Treasurer, and Historian) will be created for you upon receipt of your colonization fee ($250), pledge fee ($50/member one time), and semester member dues ($50/member recurring).  Receipts are sent to your treasurer.
What we send you - Each pledges shirt, certificate, pledge and brother pins, colony promotional/recruitment items, Bitrix24, our online intranet presence with governing docs and a manner to contact Brothers and Sisters across the country.  You must secure a United States Postal Service PO Box as this is where we ship items.
In the event that your school requires your constitution prior to colonizing that will be supplied to you for that purpose.

Some duties we require:  There is a monthly Fraternity Senate meeting that your president must attend via Bitrix24.  These are held on Sunday evenings at 1800 hours Eastern Time .
    Your colony/chapter must:

    • Your colony/chapter meet weekly when school is in session for at least 1 hour to discuss colony/chapter business and to socialize with one another.
    • Fund raise for your colony/chapter (you need funds to operate and recruit)
    • At least one major charity fundraiser per year
    • Community charity work (i.e. toys for tots, food bank, or other social programs)
    • Active participation in school activities (i.e. homecoming, Veterans Day, etc)

Please Note:  We do not accept junior, community, trade, or online schools for colonies.  We are a veterans organization.  We do  accept  a percentage of civilian, dependent, or ROTC if  they qualify under the laws set forth for 501.c.19, Veteran Organizations.

We need your school assigned email address (ex. JJJ123@amu.edu
Name of your university and location
